Includes: - Opportunity to annotate the anthology as a class (visualiser)/independently depending on ability - Building of Success Critiera - Model Paragraph - Tasks on Lexical Field & Structural features

2 lesson plans which allow students to annotate and understand the imagery in the poem prior to creating an extended response in relation to the poem Copy of the poem is differentiated with prompting questions and has a model paragraph which can be adapted to suit ability Following lesson includes a self/peer assessment task to engage students in understanding of how to implement Success Criteria

An independent writing task which prompts students to create a response to an exam style question - Uses the anthology to develop engagement with 'unseen poems' Uses leading questions to develop students understanding of how to structure a response to unseen poetry

Lesson plan which focuses on the Anthology poem 'Singh Song' Lesson is structured to allow students to explore understanding of the language prior to annotating their anthology, includes annotated copy of the poem which prompts students to think about the meaning of language, the use of language devices and the message of the poem. Students then have the opportunity to answer an 'unseen poem' exam style question - How does the poet present the relationship with his wife in the poem 'Singh Song'?

The lesson focuses on describing an image to create mood - involves varying sentence structures and including a range of appropriate adjectives Peer Assessment task works brilliantly with students once they are coached - always make students write their name along with strength and target so they can be held accountable for good and bad feedback

An activity which can be adapted to suit the task, allowing students to identify and comment on strengths and weaknesses within a written piece Success criteria can be given, or built as a class in order to engage students in the content of their work.
