Professor Diggalot has discovered some ancient documents that belonged to the ‘Puggawigga’ people from long ago. He has been unable to decipher the mysterious code that these texts are written in, so he has written to you to ask if you can help him. Are you up for the challenge? Interesting, fun facts about 22 different minibeasts are written in code and displayed on ancient parchment paper. A great activity that supports oral language development. Toss a coin and then roll a dice to find a topic to talk about. Talk to a buddy, small group or whole class. Can you talk continuously for 30 seconds without pausing or saying ummm, ahhhh, etc? 6 charts with 12 topics on each card (72 topics altogether) 1 chart with 12 topics that are broader (suitable for less able students). Fun, engaging topics that your students will enjoy. Provided in colour and in black and white. A blank template is also provided so you and your students can make up your own game. Also provided is the list of topics that you can print, cut up and put in a container. Students can then pull a topic out from the container (as an alternative to tossing a coin and rolling a dice).

Story Starters for writing lessons in the classroom. They are all for writing in the third person (ie they all contain the names of other characters, rather than using 'I') Print these out and laminate them back-to-back. Hand them out (or children can 'lucky-dip'). Students can then choose which story starter interests them the most and use that one to begin writing in their exercise book. Collect them in and use them again another time. 8 A4 sheets with 8 story starters on each page (total 64).
