English planning for the first few weeks of Year 1 based on the text ‘The same but different too’. Focus on simple sentence structure, adjectives, simple character description. The children end the week by using their descriptions to make the character that they have designed - this could be extended by the children orally rehearsing sentences about their character and writing these down. Powerpoint and resources included. Lesson 1: I am learning what it means to describe. Lesson 2: I am learning to use adjectives. Lesson 3: I am creating a character. Lesson 4: I can write a simple sentence. Lesson 5: I can make a character, applying my new knowledge of adjectives.
