This lesson is part of a scheme of learning that was made for Year 9 on the Cold War. It is particularly useful for those who are not intending to study this at GCSE. This lesson is intended to make the students think through being put in difficult situations and having to make decisions fast. It requires high level thinking skills with a specific focus on the skill of evaluation. It covers the Cuban Revolution; Bay of Pigs and the Missile Crisis. This resource can also be used for GCSE units, and will take about 2 hours to teach.

The resource contains 3 quizzes/word searches: The First World War The Second World War The Cold War There are also 3 differentiated searches for lower prior attaining students where the letter at the beginning of each word is highlighted in the grid so that this becomes more of a heads and tails activity. I have found using these useful revision/extension/remote learning resources. It is also useful for GCSE knowledge revision.

One hundred questions in 60 minutes. This quiz can be done individually; in pairs or in groups depending on the size of the A Level class. It enables students to revise the content of the Year 12 course through competition, and is fun as an end of term activity. I often give prizes to the students who score the highest, although I have never had a 100% success yet!!! The questions are challenging and require 1 word/one sentence answers. Answers are included for self-assessment. This resource assesses and consolidates student knowledge while they are having fun.

This resource has been created for either key stage 2 students transitioning to secondary school, or key stage 1 students moving into middle school. It has a humanities theme and contains tasks; ice-breakers and games to help the students relax; build confidence and make relationships while they learn. It begins with an ice-breaker. The students then learn about chronology - a paper task in pairs, and then a challenge where they have to move around the room talking to each other. It end with a geography and RE game where again all of the new students can learn about each other. You will need about an hour to do all of the activities, however some can be cut out if time does not permit.

This lesson is the first lesson in the A Level Comparative Politics unit - it outlines the unit requirements, and introduces students to the origins of the US constitution (it can also be used for A Level History). It considers the historical setting of the constitution with a focus on key terms, and contains activities and discussions to extend student thinking. It also includes an individual research task on the founding fathers. This lesson would take an hour to teach, however the task may need to be completed as home study. It is fully resourced and no text book is required, however is based on the Pearson Edexcel A Level text book.
