This is a colourful collection of text extracts and exam-style questions for Paper 1 - Creative Reading & Writing. 4 sets of 4 on A3 for the reading questions - 16 micro mocks = 64 questions in total + 16 mini extracts. This one also comes in a rainbow pack which removes the opportunity for a challenging jigsaw activity because each line is a unique colour/shade. 2 sets of 4 on A4 for Q5 - 8 images and 2x cards for each - one based on description, the other: narration. Best to be printed and laminated so that they can be reused without the risk of wear and tear. Each set for Section A - has a unique colour so they can be double-sided and kept like a pack. Just print pink/green & blue/yellow - printing from the word doc. They look great as in the photograph preview image but, printing them off single-sided means having the ability to use 4 sets at once, with four small groups and we now have a few sets in a drop-in room so students can just choose some to revise with. The set with four blocked colours also make a good jigsaw puzzle, as all texts have matching questions, to start a revision session. Students need to match the questions with each text - basic comprehension Can be used in workshops or given to students to take home and use for revision/practice. Paper 2 now in my shop! =-)

I’ve added a larger version of the Hair Paper 2 Micro Mock - just in case. This is a well-researched and in-depth overview containing 54 slides and a lot of interesting facts and details about the intricacies of Language & Sexuality in contemporary culture. THere is a matching 3o page booklet with references on slides throughout.

This is a full intro/revision session that could be run-through quickly or spread over a few sessions. It has 3x examples for each of the three main reading questions and an exemplar creative piece which is higher level, covering writing. These all feature on slides with notes attached for most answers with rough guidelines and examiner comments. There are animated group activities and discussion prompts which help the use of the PPT flow, click-by-click, and a hand out which includes a level 3 mark scheme for Q5. Use this incredible story to provoke some fantastic responses - there is nothing graphic here. But there is a short clip from the film which just provides some context and an interpretation of the extract - as well as a discussion prompt. It goes over the main elements of the question and has a number of tasks which relate to varied elements of narrative structure.

Just revision quiz for use as a formative assessment - revision/recap task. Great to get students into teams to work together on this one. You need to keep track of individual or team scores but the categories were a pain to think of. Any feedback, suggestions for improvements are most welcome!

These cover Paper 2 and have a range of texts and questions covering all P2 AOs. There are 2 sets of cards for Reading and 1 set for Writing. 16 mini extracts 32 reading questions 16 example statements for Persuasive Writing. 6 sets of TEQ example answer paragraph cards. There is also a second set of reading cards - which have been coloured to match each individual P2 set, using the block colours allows for quite a sophisticated matching task. Rainbow cards allow for quicker access with easy matching and are much better for lower level learners. The reading cards can be double-sided but single-sided allows for more simultaneous use. Best to laminate them and reduce the risk of wear and tear. A detailed collection for Paper 1 is also in my shop!

A short session based on the text extract from Summer 2022. This is a simple session encouraging the synthesis of connotations and is designed to be paperless. It’s fully animated and has a short summary video at the start. Key word analysis is a feature and there’s a demo answer + 2 extra questions. There are a number of book covers, set as small images in the centre of white pages. I printed these laminated and passed them round/got the students into groups with drywipe pens. They can be used in a few ways.

Just a short lesson to go over matching vocabulary to Genre and making creating writing a little more sophisticated. It is fully animated and has tasks for students throughout.

Linking to Paper 1, Question 3 - this worksheet has 4 narrative expositions and grids for students to organise their ideas. It pushes them to make one main point about how interesting the opening is and then explain how the reader is affected, whilst using three quotes/key words or phrases to evidence it. I usually use it as a stretch and challenge exercise, in extra revision sessions or as bookends to a session. The PPT is a recent thing which allows it to be used as a more inclusive lesson. It offers a strategy to aim for 8 minutes and as much of a sophisticated answer as possible.

Fun Starter Task for Paper 1 - Question 3 - Endgame Trailer with second annotated answers video. Printable game cards - set of 4 with a mixture of different features.

This uses a character from GOT books and a couple of other famous text examples, with animated annotations and analyses of foreshadowing. One is annotated and the final one is blank which also comes in A4 PDF. The penultimate task can be group annotations, pairs or individual and then finally provide the structure question to write an exam-style response for assessment purposes. Finally, there is a foreshadowing grid for extension, which is guided for less able students. This guidance can be removed for more able students.

An introductory session or revision session that will run over perspectives and writing to persuade and express opinion. It lasts a good 1.5-2hrs Encourages Opinion Group Discussion Prompts Popular Music Lyrics Analysis Embedded Music Language Analysis Extension Task Lyrics and Images will also cover British Values, Inclusion and present opportunities to promote acceptance of others. ‘Silence’ covers antiviolence and the attitude to learn from others mistakes and ‘I Know You’ criticises drinking culture.

This is well-animated and is sectioned off by LO slides which tick each off as they are covered. The main formative task is also put together with step-by-step highlighted quotations which follows a set of statements which are set up to imitate the exam page. After revisiting the terms ‘explicit’ & ‘implicit’ - it provides an overview of P2Q1.
