A lesson I created for my AS group to be able to give in favour / against arguments based on new technologies. Its quite of an interactive lesson, with 2 different speaking activities, a reading, a matching and a grammar activity. It also comes with a lesson plan.

A 40-slide ppt based on the Mira 3 textbook (rojo), “El mundo Hispano” (5.1) and “Mi vida diaria” (5.3) topics. It mainly focuses on Mi vida diaria, so you will find a lot more resources for this sub-unit than for el mundo hispano. Some activities have instructions and links at the bottom of the slide, please check them out. It includes a number of extra resources (grammar and reading comp., among others) that I created as the textbook doesn’t offer a lot. This resource includes a 118 slide ppt presentation I prepared to teach the new Edexcel International GCSE 9-1 for my Year 4 (10) group. As the textbook isn’t great, I created many extra resources to combine with working on the textbook. That includes introduction of new tenses, among others. What’s included: resources for Unit 2: Self, family and friends - at home and abroad, which at the same time includes activities for section: 2E Holidays --> subsections 2E.1 to 2E.3 are all included. Inspired on social media trends, this resource is made up of 5 sheets of paper with 60 everyday life items for students to practise comparisons. The idea is for students to first choose, in each instance, which item they prefer (e.g. sightseeing vs relaxing in the beach), then go through all of them together to have a more detailed chat. Items belong to a range of categories so that the conversations will touch up on food, holidays, seasons, etc. Activity is perfect to use as an ice-breaker or simply for general conversation.

24 different cards which include a character, their name, mood, age, birthday, where they live and number of pets they have. How to carry out this task: students get to walk around the classroom and ask each other the 6 basic questions (como te llamas, como estas, donde vives, etc) according to what they have on their card. Once done, they swap cards and move on to introduce themselves to a different peer. You can get students to do this in the first person or even in the third person if you want to work different verb endings. These cards are easily adaptable to any language and you can edit the information any time. Print in colour and laminate them, they will last you a lifetime. This activity was designed to go with Mira 1 as a recap of the first module once module 3 has been done as well (as that’s when pets are introduced).

A lesson planned to celebrate Earth Day with my EAL learners (advanced level). 10 slides which contain opportunities to work on vocabulary, grammar, listening comprehension (videos), speaking and even 2 projects for students to choose from. This material has provided enough stuff for a minimum of 2 50’ lessons, depending on how long you want your students to work on the project. The slide notes pane has been populated with explanations on each activity.

A competitive reading activity called question trails to make reading more fun. This question trails exercise is based on a text on Afroperuvian music (AQA AS Spanish - El patrimonio musical topic). Activity took 2 hours to create but it was well worth it - students worked in pairs and had fun trying to complete the activity first. Rewards can be given for extra motivation to the pair finishing first. As students will have to read the text carefully, the whole activity will easily take around 20-30 minutes to carry out, depending on ability. All instructions and handouts required are inside of the pack. Answers included too. Could stretch the activity even further by having students write a summary on the text once the competition is over. A different and fun way to get students reading for detail without complaining!

Vocab to practise module 5 in stimmt 1 textbook: in der stadt in a fun way. This card game includes 18 items of vocabulary and consists of 36 cards that include a place in town image and its name below. But careful! Some are labelled wrong - Students must grab one card and name the place they see before putting it down on a pile in the centre. If the place is labelled wrong and they read it without correcting it, they will have to get all cards from the pile. The winner is the person who runs out of cards. Perfect to review places in town vocabulary and key sounds pronunciation in class.

A powerpoint I created to help my year 8 and year 9 groups practise verb tenses before the summer exams. Year 8 (second year): present, preterite and near future year 9 (third year): present, preterite, near and simple future. this resource does not include verb endings, but tables for students to fill in and practise verb conjugations in their 6 forms (there are some common irregulars). Answers included for them to work independently and check their own answers. Ppt includes a thinking quilts activity where students will be identifying these tenses in use, as well as typical time markers to go with each tense.
