This is the eigth lesson in a A Level Civil Rights Part 1 - African-Americans SOL. It focuses on the impact of the New Deal on civil rights and also involves essay modeling and practice. The activities are varied and are targeted at stretching students’ thinking in preparation for success at A Level. The lesson is fully resourced, but can also be used in conjunction with any A Level approved textbook.

This resource is targeted at supporting A level students master historiography. It contains one mat for each of the following relating to the reign of Henry VII: Consolidation of power and the establishment of a stable monarch (fully completed to model activity) Government and finance Foreign policy Society Economy Religion; humanism and the arts The first mat is completed with the historiography, plus evidence to support each argument as an example. The task is for students to research each historiography and record evidence (the historiographical argument is included on each mat). These completed mats should then be used for revision/essay writing/evaluating interpretations. They will support students’ learning at A level and weremade for AQA Unit 1C, however are useful for any post 16 study of the Tudors.

This lesson considers the aims of President Kennedy’s economic policy and how far it was successful It contains a variety of task including exam-style work and discussion. It was created for the AQA American Dream unit of work but could be used for any post 16 study of the presidency of JFK.

This lesson has been created to help GCSE students to answer questions which require them to explain how interpretation differ, and give valid reasons why they differ. It is taught through explaining the concept of interpretations of history; understanding the role of an historian; examples of model answers and opportunities to practice examples of GCSE questions. This is particularly useful to consolidate higher prior attaining students conceptual understanding and to provide a logical route to accessing the marks for these question types for lower prior attaining students.

It focuses on Truman’s Post War Foreign Policy and the US economy in the immediate aftermath of the Second World War. It contains a power point and 5 resources for linked activities.

These lessons have been created for unit 1C of the AQA History A Level. but are suitable for any post 16 tudor course. They start by looking at the structure of society in the reign of Henry VIII, followed by a focus on the key rebellions and their causes. The last part of the power point considers the social and economic impact that religious upheaval had on England and English society. This covers about 5 hours of learning.

This lesson has been created to recognise VE Day, and to help students look at source materials to reach a value judgment. It is suitable for most ages but particularly useful for either key stage 2 or 3. It starts with information about VE day and the background to the war in the air with clips; images and statistics. It then presents the students with a wide range of source material which they have to categorise by making inferences and tabulating information. The main task is a piece of writing in the form of a newspaper report where students are judged on how effectively they communicate the conclusions they have drawn from the sources. The lesson ends with a class discussion which can be differentiated. This is an appropriate lesson for VE Day, and takes about 1 hour to complete all activities.

This is the fifteenth lesson on the A level democracy and dictatorships in Germany A Level Unit, and focuses on evaluating the Stresemann era in terms of whether the title ‘Golden Era’ can be justified. It contains research activities; examination question practice and clips to support learning. This lesson provides the opportunity to evaluate the whole of this period. This lesson continues the investigation into whether or not there was a Mid Tudor Crisis. It focuses on the analysis of the Kett and Western Rebellions, comparing them and evaluating how dangerous the year 1549 was for Edward VI. It contains a range of investigative material and considers both contemporary source material and interpretations of the rebellions. Students will be looking for more evidence to suggest whether or not there was a mid-Tudor crisis. Students will learn about: The causes of the Kett and Western Rebellions The extent to which they posed a danger to Edward VI Duration: This is a long lesson and will probably require 2 hours to teach it, plus an hour of home learning to complete all of the activities. It can be used for all examination boards and is designed so that any examination board approved text book can be used to complete the activities.

This is the last lesson on the Norman conquest and life in Norman England. It is a fun lesson which involves a group quiz on the topics covered, followed by an individual quiz and word search consolidating learning about the Normans. This should be used for year 7.
