This resource is targeted at supporting A level students master historiography. It contains one mat for each of the following relating to the reign of Henry VII: Consolidation of power and the establishment of a stable monarch (fully completed to model activity) Government and finance Foreign policy Society Economy Religion; humanism and the arts The first mat is completed with the historiography, plus evidence to support each argument as an example. The task is for students to research each historiography and record evidence (the historiographical argument is included on each mat). These completed mats should then be used for revision/essay writing/evaluating interpretations. They will support students’ learning at A level and weremade for AQA Unit 1C, however are useful for any post 16 study of the Tudors.

This lesson has been created to recognise VE Day, and to help students look at source materials to reach a value judgment. It is suitable for most ages but particularly useful for either key stage 2 or 3. It starts with information about VE day and the background to the war in the air with clips; images and statistics. It then presents the students with a wide range of source material which they have to categorise by making inferences and tabulating information. The main task is a piece of writing in the form of a newspaper report where students are judged on how effectively they communicate the conclusions they have drawn from the sources. The lesson ends with a class discussion which can be differentiated. This is an appropriate lesson for VE Day, and takes about 1 hour to complete all activities.

I have found using these useful revision/extension/remote learning resources.

This lesson continues the investigation into whether or not there was a Mid Tudor Crisis. It focuses on the analysis of the Kett and Western Rebellions, comparing them and evaluating how dangerous the year 1549 was for Edward VI. It contains a range of investigative material and considers both contemporary source material and interpretations of the rebellions. Students will be looking for more evidence to suggest whether or not there was a mid-Tudor crisis. Students will learn about: The causes of the Kett and Western Rebellions The extent to which they posed a danger to Edward VI Duration: This is a long lesson and will probably require 2 hours to teach it, plus an hour of home learning to complete all of the activities.
