Edexcel ALevel Politics Component 3 USA Politics Comparative Topic 4 Supreme Court and Civil Rights This is my Introduction lesson to the Court and key terms e.g. Stare Decisis, Loose/ Strict Constructivism and Originalism. Includes a key profile of the current court for a research homework and how they ruled on key cases e.g. Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Board of Health and New York state rifle assoc. v Bruen which cover key aspects of the divisive issues in the USA today e.g. abortion rights, gun control, voting rights, immigration and campaign finance. All the SCOTUS cases I cover are useful case studies for other topics due to the synoptic nature of the ALevel course, this helps students to join the dots. ALevel Tudor Rebellions Course- Revision Resource: These retrieval grids cover all the rebellions against the Tudors in England. Grid 1: Henry VII between 1485-1499 Grid 2: Henry VIII and Edward VI rebellions 1509-1553 Grid 3: Mary I and Elizabeth I rebellions in England 1553-1601 Note: I have not included the Irish rebellions grid as I’ve not had chance to make this yet. Updated Politics Taster Day lesson for 2024 This lesson is for the Edexcel course- we cover: Feminism and option 3A USA so some slides are tailored to this. Lesson is largely discussion based with a true or false quiz to promote discussion. Covers: Corruption and Accountability, Participation and Protest etc. Also includes: careers in Politics, famous students of politics, uses of politics alevel for degree level and quotes from students as well as a breakdown of the course. Also includes some little youtube clips from comedy shows, trailers for Knock Down the House etc.

Lesson for ALevel History This is for the OCR Thematic Tudor Rebellions scheme of work but can be used for Tudors looking at social unrest due to socio-economic problems in the Mid-Tudor Crisis. Full lesson which covers all aspects of the rebellion with a variety of activities including card sort, venn diagram, tables, continuum and lots of reading. Examines Causes, Aims, Nature, Events, Reasons for Increased Threat and Decreased Threat, Government resopnse and Impact of the Kett rebellion.

Alevel lessons on Tudor Rebellions This is work for 2 2 hour lessons plus homework on the Nature and Threat of the Western rebellion. The Western Rebellion is one of the key rebellions which students need to study in depth for OCR ALevel. This lesson has a retrieval starter based on previous lesson. Colour code, mapping exercise to learn the narrative of the rebellion. Includes a detailed timeline/ chronology of the Western rebellion which will save you hours as I had to put it together from many different sources. Also includes a huge A3 threat evaluation sheet broken down into key criteria used to evaluate threat. This is a depth study so resources are very detailed. Analysis of threat based on all work done so far and a conclusion as well as a key debate on how violent the western rebels were.

Edexcel GCSE Weimar and Nazi Germany Lesson 1 on mini unit on the Weimar Germany Golden Years 1924-1929 Includes a retrieval starter to match up Stresemann’s policies to the problems they solved and a summary of positive and negative outcomes. Then examines a debate on the extent to which living standards improves (refers to textbook but all stats/ info is on one of the slides). Encourages students to develop explanation/ analysis for themselves for how and why this would improve living conditions. Segue into WEimar culture- Art looking at Metropolis by Otto Dix and social commentary on divided society in Weimar Germany- Primary source analysis then examination of effect of Weimar Constitution and examination of New Objectivism in German Art/ culture. This is part of my wider Unit on Weimar Germany but a 3 parter on “how golden were the golden years” as an enquiry/ debate for Interpretations.

Lesson for KS3 which examines increasing persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany since 1933. Includes all resources, fully detailed and explained so can be used by non specialists.

Edexcel Politics ALevel but can be used for AQA or for US Civics lessons Third lesson in my series on the US Constitution which follows on from Origins and Principles. This lesson is based around evaluating the Constitution according to how fit for purpose it is. Includes all resources needed for a standalone lesson but will work best as a follow on from my previous lessons. Included are four medicine through time thematic timelines. These are great for revision sessions - students add on lines to show when each development started/ stopped. Then add annotations to show the WASIIC factors which caused the change/ continuity. Designed for teacher supported revision sessions or lessons or independent homework which will be checked later… Also included a summary of all Edexcel Medicine through time past paper questions for the section B questions on one handy 2 page document Recommended printing to A3.

Revision quiz for medicine through time. Has several rounds including Who is Who? Significant individuals and their breakthroughs, key words, key factors for change, key inventions etc. Can be set for homework in stages or as a beast and later self/ peer marked in class. Students have always enjoyed this quiz and found it helpful. Note only goes up to and including Industrial era- was struggling to fit it all on!

Alevel Russian History OCR -can be used for any spec/ GCSE if simplified Very comprehensive double 2 hour lesson plus homework on the Impact of WWI on Russia - Economics, Society and Politics and the Causes of the February Revolution Includes a very detailed powerpoint including retrieval tasks for previous work studied, including debates, e.g. how stable was Russia on eve of war? Was the February revolution from above or below? Looks at all political, economic and social effects of WWI follows my previous lesson on How stable was Russia in 1914. Card sort of factors, Ripple diagram for pupils to fill in with causes for different groups in society e.g. national minorities and peasants vs army and industrial workers. Also includes an example 20 mark essay examining the significance of WWI vs Nicholas II’s actions even before WWI.

Stand alone intro to the Crusades for KS3- the religious and historical significance of Jerusalem to all 3 faiths. Also includes a glossary sheet for key people, key terms etc for the Crusades.

2 hour ALevel lesson designed to evaluate stability in Russia between 1906-1914, Designed for OCR course but can be used for AQA or Edexcel also. Very comprehensive with detailed resources for independent learning and enquiries, debate and discussion. Follows my lesson on Stolypin and Witte and evaluating their relative significance. This is also designed to go before studying the impact of WWI on RUssia so students can evaluate how far WWI caused the February revolution 1917. GCSE History Superpower Relations in the Cold War Edexcel but can be used for any spec This 3 lesson bundle is very detailed and includes loads of info and tasks on Detente, SALT 1, Helsinki Accords and the APollo Soyuz mission Also Why did Detente fail? SALT 2 and its failure. Includes analysis of events and also an SEND reduced content worksheet. Also includes an 8 mark model answer but as a “find and fix” the errors exercise to test student knowledge and understanding. No textbooks necessary or any other info all included.

Lesson for Edexcel GCSE Weimar and Nazi Germany This lesson looks at Nazi policies towards the Church including why the Church was a threat as well as support from members of the church such as Ludwig Muller. The lesson examines and evaluates Nazi policies to control the Church- weighing up successes overall. Includes colour code activity, discussion tasks, guided note making and justification of arguments. Includes interpretation evidence for the debate at the end.
