Edexcel ALevel Politics Component 3 USA Politics Comparative Topic 4 Supreme Court and Civil Rights This is my Introduction lesson to the Court and key terms e.g. Stare Decisis, Loose/ Strict Constructivism and Originalism. Includes a key profile of the current court for a research homework and how they ruled on key cases e.g. Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Board of Health and New York state rifle assoc. v Bruen which cover key aspects of the divisive issues in the USA today e.g. abortion rights, gun control, voting rights, immigration and campaign finance. All the SCOTUS cases I cover are useful case studies for other topics due to the synoptic nature of the ALevel course, this helps students to join the dots. Lesson is largely discussion based with a true or false quiz to promote discussion. Alevel lessons on Tudor Rebellions This is work for 2 2 hour lessons plus homework on the Nature and Threat of the Western rebellion. The Western Rebellion is one of the key rebellions which students need to study in depth for OCR ALevel. This lesson has a retrieval starter based on previous lesson. Colour code, mapping exercise to learn the narrative of the rebellion. Includes a detailed timeline/ chronology of the Western rebellion which will save you hours as I had to put it together from many different sources. Also includes a huge A3 threat evaluation sheet broken down into key criteria used to evaluate threat. This is a depth study so resources are very detailed. Analysis of threat based on all work done so far and a conclusion as well as a key debate on how violent the western rebels were.

Edexcel GCSE Weimar and Nazi Germany Lesson 1 on mini unit on the Weimar Germany Golden Years 1924-1929 Includes a retrieval starter to match up Stresemann’s policies to the problems they solved and a summary of positive and negative outcomes. Then examines a debate on the extent to which living standards improves (refers to textbook but all stats/ info is on one of the slides). Encourages students to develop explanation/ analysis for themselves for how and why this would improve living conditions. Segue into WEimar culture- Art looking at Metropolis by Otto Dix and social commentary on divided society in Weimar Germany- Primary source analysis then examination of effect of Weimar Constitution and examination of New Objectivism in German Art/ culture. This is part of my wider Unit on Weimar Germany but a 3 parter on “how golden were the golden years” as an enquiry/ debate for Interpretations.

This lesson is based around evaluating the Constitution according to how fit for purpose it is.
