Example newspaper report based on the children’s novel The Firework-Maker’s Daughter by Philip Pullman.
This exemplar newspaper article is perfect to use as a WAGOLL when studying The Firework-Maker’s Daughter. The example text reports on the events in chapters 2 and 3 of the book when the elephant escapes from the city.
The model newspaper report comes with a feature find worksheet for children to fill in with answer sheet.

Glossaries for the novel The Iron Man by Ted Hughes, with definitions of nearly 300 words and over 100 accompanying images.
Included:
• 32 page glossary for the whole novel
• 5 separate glossaries for each chapter
The glossaries are organised into alphabetical order, encourging the use of dictionary skills which is a key component of the Key Stage Two curriculum for Years 3 and 4 (using dictionaries to check the meaning of words that they have read) and Years 5 and 6 (use dictionaries to check the spelling and meaning of words).
The dictionary of key vocabulary helps pupils of all abilities, including SEN and EAL pupils, with their comprehension of the story.
The glossary can be printed as a booklet to be used in a number of ways:
• To look up the meaning of words whilst reading the text to aid comprehension.

Example texts demonstrating dialogue writing with direct speech based on the beautiful children’s picture book Journey by Aaron Becker.
The 3 differentiated example texts contain conversations between the female protagonist and her elder sister when she is bored and looking for someone to play with.
Differentiated feature find worksheets with answers are included – perfect for sharing in class or uploading during online lessons for remote learning.
All resources are differentiated three ways.
The model texts are useful as WAGOLLs to examine before children attempt their own dialogue writing based on the book.
All documents are provided in PDF and easily editable Word format.
The following features of dialogue and speech can be found in the example dialogues (depending on level of difficulty):
• Actual words spoken, with inverted commas on either side
• Reporting clause after speech, and separated from words spoken with a comma, question mark or exclamation mark
• Reporting clause before speech, and separated from words spoken with a comma
• Variety of speech verbs used
• Adverbs to show how the words were spoken
• Actions of the characters while speaking
• New paragraph every time the speaker/character changes.

Example newspaper report based on the children’s novel Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White.
This exemplar newspaper article is perfect to use as a WAGOLL when studying Charlotte’s Web. The example text reports on the events up to the end of Chapter 11 of the book when Charlotte’s first web is discovered.
The model newspaper report comes with a feature find worksheet for children to fill in with answer sheet.
After identifying the features, pupils complete the quotation punctuation activities.
