This is the seventh lesson in an 8 lesson scheme of learning for key stage 3 on the Industrial Revolution. It involves research into how the social conditions in the cities during the industrial revolution aided criminals and made solving crime very difficult for the police. Students are required to consider a variety of sources to reach a judgment in an extended writing task. All sources and the writing frame are included within the power point for copying. This could also be used as a GCSE resource to support the teaching of the historic environment on the crime and punishment unit. No text book is needed.

This lesson is the first lesson in the A Level Comparative Politics unit - it outlines the unit requirements, and introduces students to the origins of the US constitution (it can also be used for A Level History). It considers the historical setting of the constitution with a focus on key terms, and contains activities and discussions to extend student thinking. It also includes an individual research task on the founding fathers. This lesson would take an hour to teach, however the task may need to be completed as home study. It is fully resourced and no text book is required, however is based on the Pearson Edexcel A Level text book.

This assembly is suitable for key stages 1 and 2, possibly 3 if you use the longer clip. It lasts between 20 and 30 minutes (depending on which clip you use). It is a fun interactive assembly which tells the story of the Gunpowder Plot and then involves a fun quiz to test recall and to get the children involved in the story. It links the plot to bonfire night and ends with some tips on firework safety.

This lesson has been created to prepare students for their GCSE mocks and public examinations. It is the third lesson in a set of skills lessons which helps them revise and master source utility questions. The lesson starts by explaining how to get full marks on a source utility question, and then solidifies student learning through AFL modeling and repetition. This lesson contains material based on the Weimar and Nazi Germany depth study (USA Conflict at home and abroad also available). It takes about an hour to teach and enables students to practice their source skills.

Command terms display - 20 command terms, each with definitions of each term and an image to make them eye catching. Each can be laminated on either A4 or A3 and pupils can use them to understand what they are being asked to do. Person of the week display - a picture and a description of a key person for each week of the academic year. Can be changed each week to create an changing display. A key event in history - picture and description - for each day of the academic year. Can be changed daily to introduce knowledge of an ever growing number of key events to students. They include a background lesson on the creation of the Constitution (also suitable forA Level History) and 4 lessons investigating the nature of the US Constitution including structure; entrenchment; amendment etc. The block of lesson is completed with introducing students to a section A exam question which is modeled. This is fully resourced, but access to Pearson Edexcel A Level US Government and Politics text book would be useful.
