This is a 4/5 hours introductory lesson to President Johnson’s Great Society. It contains an extended power point, and the resources to complement the tasks. It gives the students the opportunity to use contemporary source material to research for their evaluative writing. The resource was created for the AQA American Dream unit, however can be used for any A Level course covering post war US history.

This is part of a scheme of learning that made for Year 9 about the Cold War era. It is about Berlin as a divided City and is lesson 11-12 in the scheme of learning. It focuses on the origins of the division; differences in peoples’ live in the east and west; the causes and consequences of the Berlin Wall; and looks at escape attempts. It includes clips and tasks.

It has been created in a way that ensures that students who do not choose GCSE history are informed of key developments that are shaping our world today. This is a 3x1hour lesson which starts with the legacy Henry VIII left for his son Edward VI, and then moves into looking at the historiography of the Mid-Tudor Crisis. It considers contemporary source materials and activities which will span about 3 hours of class time and 2 hours of independent learning. This resource was produced for Unit 1C of the AQA A level, but can also be used for other boards teaching similar topics.

This resource focuses on the historiography of Henry VII’s financial/economic policy and the beginning of his foreign policy. It contains a power point and resources which cover lessons 16-20 of unit 1C AQA A level, and should be used in conjunction with the AQA approved text book. It also contains resources to support the power point. It can also be used for Tudor units on other examination boards. This will take approximately 5 hours to teach.

The first part of this power point looks at the historiography of Henry VII’s consolidation of power through a class debate. It then goes on to consider A level essay writing. The last part starts looking at how Henry VII started to reduce the power of the nobles to help him further consolidate his power. There is also a resource which provides a useful diagram of Henry’s government structure. This contains the 3rd 5 lessons of the AQA A level unit 1C and should be taught in combination with the official AQA text book, but could also be used for another examination board.

This lesson takes approximately 4/5 hours to teach. Resources are built in at the end of the power point. It investigates Mary Tudor’s attempts at bringing Catholicism back to England and can be used for Unit 1C of the AQA A level, but can also be used for other boards teaching similar topics.

This lesson focuses on how to attain a high level on the GCSE history paper when evaluating interpretations of history. The lesson is taught by looking at potential questions and through teacher modeling and then students copying. It demonstrates how to structure answers and differentiates between information lifted from interpretations and presentation of own knowledge.

These lessons were created for AQA history A Level unit 1C, however can be used for any post 16 study of the Tudors. There are about 5 or 6x 1 hour lessons included in this power point, and they provide the opportunity for historical investigation into the three distinct periods of Henry VIII’s foreign policy and his attempts to secure the succession. It contains a variety of teacher led and student led learning opportunities culminating in a judgment regarding the success of Henry VIII’s foreign policy.

This lesson was created for AQA Unit 1C A level history but can be used for any post 16 study of the Tudors. It invlves the evaluation of Thomas Cromwell with particular reference to the Elton Thesis. It provides A Level students with the opportunity to carry out extended reading activities, and to evaluate various historical interpretations and challenges to the Elton Thesis.

These lessons have been created for unit 1C of the AQA History A Level. but are suitable for any post 16 tudor course. They start by looking at the structure of society in the reign of Henry VIII, followed by a focus on the key rebellions and their causes. The last part of the power point considers the social and economic impact that religious upheaval had on England and English society. This covers about 5 hours of learning.

These lessons explore the condition of the Catholic Church and the impact of humanism in the reign of Henry VII. They involve research and the evaluation of historical interpretations in line with the AOs for AQA Unit C A level examination. This resource can be used for any post 16 study of the Tudors.

This lesson addresses how to answer causation questions through modelling answers and differentiated activities. It is stepped in difficulty starting with very simple ways of identifying cause and consequence; moving onto evaluating causes and culminating in mastering GCSE questions on causation. There are a range of activities varying in difficulty. It was made for GCSE history however is also suitable for key stage 3. This will probably take more than one lesson to teach if students complete all of the activities.

This is an A level double lesson (2 hours) which explores the key historical debate regarding Queen Elizabeth I and her relationship with Parliament as required by the Tudors A Level courses. It contains starter activities which link Elizabeth to previous Tudor Monarchs; historiographies; and resources containing summarised but very detailed key information needed for answering an interpretation question on this topic. The lesson enables the teacher to work through the planning of an A level historiography answer, and then allows the students to write their own independent answer. All resources needed are included.
