Know what PESTLE and STEEPLE mean and the steps to using them
This is a full lesson on data transmission with all resources / activities. I use this for a double lesson of around 1 hour and 50 minutes and it provides a thorough understanding of simplex / duplex transmission and then goes on to look at serial / parallel transmission before finishing with odd and even parity bits and then parity blocks.
The Learning Objectives are:
Understand what is meant by transmission of data
Know the difference between serial and parallel data transmission
understand of the reasons for choosing serial or parallel data transmission
Know why it is necessary to check for errors
Understand how parity works to identify if an error has occurred / locate errors

This is lesson six of the Spreadsheet basics series of lessons. This gets students to understand how to use functions in order to do simple calculations (SUM, AVERAGE, MAX, MIN) for a class of students with a mark-sheet for a fictional class. There is an advanced version of the mark-sheet for those super fast students which also needs them to work out how to calculate ranges and relies on earlier taught content on this course which required them to convert scores to percentages.

This is a set of five roleplays that cover a variety of different situations. Students can either work in pairs (one as the HR manager and one as the member of staff) OR you can appoint different HR managers to carry out their roles while being observed of the other students (this works particularly well!)
