Hwb: How do I access it?

To visit Hwb, enter Hwb.gov.wales in your browser. The vast majority of Hwb is publicly available, but Hwb accounts are available to all staff and learners in maintained schools in Wales.

Hwb is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week on their website. 

Every week there will be tasks that are created, assigned, potentially completed and submitted, and marked online.

Families can access the website via mobile phones, tablets, laptops, standalone computers, or even ‘smart’ televisions that can access the internet.

How long are the lessons?

Lesson lengths vary depending on the tasks set. Tasks can include watching videos, answering quizzes, creative writing, creating presentations and more. Some schools are hosting live meetings and catch-ups, with some younger learners joining regular ‘online story-time’ sessions.

What content is covered?

The lessons cover the whole of the Welsh National Curriculum, for both primary and secondary students.

How was the content put together?

The majority of the resources have been provided by schools, but there are also resources that have been commissioned by the Welsh government, or supplied by trusted partners, including:

How long will it run for? 

Hwb was created before the school closures, and is a long-standing resource base for schools.

What other help can I access?

Students and teachers in Wales have free access to Microsoft Office tools at home; as well as Word, PowerPoint and Excel, students have access to Minecraft Education Edition, all on their personal devices at home.
