Coronavirus: T-level Providers Still Planning For September 2020 Delivery

More than 100 further education providers will be delivering T levels by 2021, the Department of Education has announced today.

Education secretary Damian Hinds has said that 64 more providers - including the LTE Group, Leeds City College and WKCIC Group - will deliver the new qualifications in digital, construction, education and childcare and health and science from September 2021.

This follows the first wave of providers approved to deliver the first T levels in digital, construction and education and childcare routes from September 2020.

The DfE has also confirmed the English and maths funding rate for T-level students.

Developing a ‘skilled workforce’

The government has also announced a further £3.75 million for 2019-20 to cover costs such as producing “high-quality materials” to help them recruit young people, and has published the details of how the new courses will be funded.

Education secretary Damian Hinds said: “The second wave of post-16 providers we have announced today demonstrates our commitment to making this happen. They will play an important role in ensuring more young people across the country can access these courses and help develop the skilled workforce the country needs for the future.”

John Laramy, principal and chief executive of Exeter College, said: “Exeter College is delighted to have been selected to support the transformation of technical education in England, as an early adopter.

“Being a 2020 provider, and now, based on this announcement a 2021 provider, is great news for our students, employers and staff. T levels align with our vision to be an exceptional college and drive a line of sight to industry, which we see as key for our technical provision.”
