Thousands of pupils across the country are set to unite in support of the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Tomorrow, more than 100 schools will donate money and wear green in a sign of solidarity for all those affected by the fire in North Kensington, West London, last week.  

The desire among pupils to do something positive was sparked by Fulham Cross Girls’ School and Fulham College Boys’ School, both of which are situated near to Grenfell Tower.

Peter Haylock, the executive principal of Fulham College Academy Trust, said: “There are at least 100 schools in the tri-borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham and Westminster - then judging by the amount of tweets, it’s also gone across London and across the country.

‘Positive citizenship’

“This is so important at a time when the country is suffering from all sorts of things which go against having a strong moral purpose and go against a sign of positive citizenship. The pupils are really pleased that an idea that they’ve thought up has been able to spread and been picked up by so many other schools.”

All money donated will go to the Kensington and Chelsea Foundation’s Grenfell Tower Appeal, which has been set up with the support of the London Emergency Trust Fund. To donate, click here.
