THE head of one of England’s top-performing primary schools has called on ministers to stop imposing new initiatives on teachers.
Whitehall should allow the new curriculum and the national literacy and numeracy strtegies to bed down first, said Kevin Metcalf, of Yeadon Westfield junior in Leeds, which topped this year’s league tables after all 54 11-year olds reached the required standard in English, maths and science.
