Watch: Heart Of Worcestershire College's Christmas Advert

Shedding a tear (or 10) at a heartwarming Christmas TV advert in December has become as synonymous with the festive season as mince pies and putting up a Christmas tree

Each year, millions of us take two minutes out of our days to watch the John Lewis advert when it’s released on to social media. This year, Kevin the carrot - of Aldi Christmas advert fame - is selling out across the country as parents rush to tick him off their children’s wish list.

It’s a commercial craze that’s getting bigger and bigger every year.  And this year, in the running for maker of the most emotional and uplifting advert is Heart of Worcestershire College.

In it, Kaitlin’s little brother Freddie enjoys playing with his cardboard dolls’ house, and wants a more expensive one as his Christmas wish - one that is sadly unaffordable for Kaitlin. But, determined to grant her brother’s wishes, she goes to Heart of Worcestershire College to create one from scratch (with a little help along the way). The delight on Freddie’s face is priceless.

A spokesperson for the college said: “After seeing how much people love a feel-good Christmas advert story, we thought: why not show what our students are capable of and reaffirm the message of how colleges and the skills students learn can change lives? The concept was developed by our in-house videographer and marketing team and, with the help of the construction department, our brilliant students and the kind support of local businesses in Worcester, the vision was brought to life.

“This video shows just a small snippet of the skills our students learn throughout their vocational qualifications at HoW College and with a whole host of other departments across our sites, we’re already working on developing our 2020 advert. We really hope the video will inspire others to share their talent and in keeping with the #LoveOurColleges campaign we hope it will encourage students to consider taking their first steps towards a successful career via their local college.”
