Some 15.6 per cent of entries in the GCSE November resits - for subjects other than maths and English - got a top grade 9, new figures released today show.
That compares with 6.3 per cent of entries across all subjects getting a grade 9 in the summer GCSE results for England when largely centred-assessed grades were used.
The figures also show that 75 per cent of November resit entries, outside English and maths, got at least a grade 4 pass. That is slightly less than the 75.9 per cent in the summer.

GCSE resits 2020: Girls outperform boys
A decision was made to use centre-assessed grades last summer. However, students were given the option of taking the exams in November if they wished.
Today’s data on the November resits, from the Joint Council for Qualifications, also shows that girls outperformed boys, with 18.4 per cent of entries from girls gaining a grade 9 compared with 13.2 per cent of boys’ entries, and 78 per cent of girls’ entries gaining a grade 4 compared with 72.4 per cent of those from boys.
