Join the Tes news team as we discuss Sir Kevan Collins’ resignation as the government’s education recovery commissioner this week. 

We had already broken the story last weekend that the money to fund his recovery plan was only likely to be around a tenth of what he was asking for.  

And this was confirmed in a government announcement on Wednesday which revealed only £1.4 billion would be available, which would not be enough to fund his plan for an extended school day.

And we discuss some of the reaction to Sir Kevan’s resignation, including from heads’ union leaders, and chair of the Commons’ Education Committee Robert Halfon who described it as “a big blow”.
