24 different cards which include a character, their name, mood, age, birthday, where they live and number of pets they have. How to carry out this task: students get to walk around the classroom and ask each other the 6 basic questions (como te llamas, como estas, donde vives, etc) according to what they have on their card. Once done, they swap cards and move on to introduce themselves to a different peer. You can get students to do this in the first person or even in the third person if you want to work different verb endings. These cards are easily adaptable to any language and you can edit the information any time. Print in colour and laminate them, they will last you a lifetime. This activity was designed to go with Mira 1 as a recap of the first module once module 3 has been done as well (as that’s when pets are introduced).

A lesson planned to celebrate Earth Day with my EAL learners (advanced level). 10 slides which contain opportunities to work on vocabulary, grammar, listening comprehension (videos), speaking and even 2 projects for students to choose from. Vocab to practise module 5 in stimmt 1 textbook: in der stadt in a fun way. This card game includes 18 items of vocabulary and consists of 36 cards that include a place in town image and its name below. But careful! Some are labelled wrong - Students must grab one card and name the place they see before putting it down on a pile in the centre. If the place is labelled wrong and they read it without correcting it, they will have to get all cards from the pile. The winner is the person who runs out of cards. Perfect to review places in town vocabulary and key sounds pronunciation in class.

As the textbook isn’t great, I created many extra resources to combine with working on the textbook. A resource created for pupils taking the Edexcel Spanish IGCSE 9-1 exam to show them how to prepare for tasks B and C from the oral exam. This bundle includes 2 different ppt presentations where students are shown sample A* (grade 8,9) sentences so they have a reference on how prepare these by themselves, and to know how to make them reach grade 8/9. One of the presentations was specifically designed for a bottom set (using basic tenses they should know by the end of yr 11), whereas the other was designed for a very able top set (includes examples of present subjunctive, imperfect, etc). The latter can be turned into a task: instead of providing students with the sample answers already, you can set them the task to translate these from English into Spanish (answers provided). This means your A* sample answer will be provided in English for students to practise translation skills. It’s up to you how you want to exploit this resource.

You will find plenty of vocabulary for students to be able to reject a plan using a range of excuses, as well as to be able to propose a plan in detail, adding where to meet and at what time.
