Titanic Literacy Unit Lesson 3 This is one of the lessons from a unit of work on The Titanic. The unit explores the Titanic and uses this as the context. Pupils learn and engage with it and develop their literacy at the same time. Ideal for Histpry lessons as well as English and targeted at year 7 level 4 learners. There are other lessons that I've uploaded from the same scheme of work.

Literacy Starter – Apostrophes & Commas These few slides can be added to the start of any lesson to use as a settler for when the pupils come into the room and to incorporate literacy skills into your lesson. This particular exercise is a text that pupils need to correct.

Pullman's Frankenstein - SOW - Full lesson PP This is lesson 1 of a full scheme of work with 12 lessons - all created on pp and uplaoded separately - The scheme results in pupils writing their own gothic play and performing it to the class. ideal for Level 4/5 readers and writers and great for a Speaking and listening activity. 12 lessons plus resources all uploaded.

This is an examplar handout of film reviews - a great lesson starter - The difficult words are picked out on the bottom of each review and I get pupils to look them up in a dictionary as the lesson settler - we then go on to analyse the techniques and structure before writing our own.

This is one of several powerpoint lessons that I have uploaded on the novel Holes by Louis Sacher, ready to teach with it's resources (if aplicable). Although, you will wish to adapt and differentiate for your own class. They can be taught together to reach an assessment outcome but all are suitable as standalone exploratory lessons. Autobiography KS3 – Vocabulary Choices This is one of several lessons that I have uploaded that are about autobiographical writing. The lessons are PowerPoints that are ready to deliver – but you may wish to update them for your own context and they can be taught together or as standalone lessons. This lesson covers negative and positive vocabulary.

This APP Pupil speak Writing self evaluation sheet is used to mark pupils work - they fill it in and so does the teacher - designed to encourage participation in improving grades as an AFL tool.

This is one of 11 lessons that combine to make a full scheme of work. The lessons are designed for teaching when the pupils first join secondary school and they are based on their early experiences of school. I have uploaded all lessons with the same title above and each has a PP (if I made it) and the resources with it. In the odd case, it will just be a lesson plan. Lesson 1 has a scheme overview attached for all lessons. You will want to adapt for your own school.

This is one of a series of lessons/ activities / worksheets that I am uploading on the old AQA anthology poems. The lessons obviously have a comparative strand running through them and there are lessons for all of the poems from Cluster 1 and 2 uploaded as well as lessons that compare two poems or teach how to analyse them / compare them. I created them in my PGCE year, so they are in no way the finished article but they are a definite starting point for ideas and activities for teaching it.
