Hi welcome to my shop!
I'm currently Head of Humanities, but I've also been head of department at a number of other schools, not to mention head of year. So I have a lot of high quality resources to share.
I take real pride in trying to ensure my resources are well presented, clear, easy to use and of course challenging and engaging for the students. They have taken me a lot of time to make, but hopefully they will save you a lot of time.
If you have any feedback then please review me!

**This is a fantastic assembly designed to deal with the issue of Gossip or rumours in a school context. **
It was observed by Ofsted and they said it was Outstanding
This assembly looks at:
-The definition of gossip
-Where the term comes from
-Why people gossip
-What surveys show about gossip in the UK today
-What the impact of gossip is
-How it can be avoided
-6 tips to reduced gossip
The assembly can be a straight forward teacher presentation or you can include some audience participation (Q&As, a demonstration of gossip, a quick survey)
There are notes under every slide to help the presenter. The assembly should take 15 to 20 minutes. If you are short on time you could skip the video and the quotes.
I have also included a follow up activity for form tutors following the assembly to consolidate the key message.
All images in this presentation are free to use under a Creative Commons Licence.
This lesson looks at the effects of the crusades.
It briefly covers the context of the crusades (what they were, when they took place, why they took place)
The lesson has a variety of activities and encourages the pupils to think of both positive and negative effects of the crusades on Christianity and Islam (in Europe and the Middle-East)
An excellent lesson.
This can be used as a stand alone lesson about Easter Island or it can be used in the Fantastic places unit of work (also available in my shop).
This lesson looks at Easter Island and how the greed and stupidity of it’s people nearly destroyed the island. This is an important story and can teach us lessons about the world we live in today.
The students will get a chance to practice their analytical skills and will have a deeper look at the history of Easter Island. The final task gets the students to use empathy to illustrate the key turning points in the islands history.
This lesson includes a bell activity, a starter, main activities, plenary and homework. It also features differentiated activities for the less able.
A fun and colourful lesson.

It includes a number of activities and some fun drama games to get the students warmed up.
This is a terrific lesson that introduces the Amish Faith (as featured in films like ‘Witness’, and TV shows like ‘The Devil’s Playground’ and even ‘Orange is the new Black’)
It includes ‘Home or Away’ group activity where the students have to become experts and then teach one another about one aspect of Amish Culture.
The lesson has additional activities such as: source analysis, creative drawing, debate and ultimately a discussion of the merits and drawbacks of living like the Amish do.
An interesting and powerful lesson that teaches about a fascinating but little understood faith.
This is a fantastic lesson that introduces Mormonism and asks the question ‘Is Mormonism a real religion?’
The lesson features several activities (and a number from the ‘Book of Mormon’ musical!)
It includes key teachings from mormonism, facts and myths about the faith and gets to students to research some of the key features of the religion for a quick test at the end.

The students are asked to examine several of the more controversial aspects of the faith and consider whether or not they agree with the more traditional views and whether they fit into modern society today.
An interesting and fun lesson.
This is a really interesting and well resourced lesson that investigates the Sahara desert and the challenges of living life in such a hostile environment,
This lesson can be used as a one off (stand alone) or as part of a whole unit (such as my Fantastic Places unit, also available in my shop).
A really interesting lesson that forces the students to use their imaginations, decision making and empathy.
This lesson can be used as a one off lesson or as part of a larger unit of work. I use it as part of a longer unit called ‘Fantastic Places’ (available as a SoW in my shop) which is essentially an introductory unit to geography.
This lesson looks at the wonderful African wilderness of Madagascar and gets the students to investigate two of it’s most famous residents: Lemurs and Sharks.
A fun and informative lesson that will leave the students thirsting for more (geography!)
A good introduction lesson to PSHE that gets the students to think about and identify.
A lot of students don’t really understand what PSHE is or why it matters, this lesson is designed to explain to them why we study it at school.
It is a good intro lesson to the course or a stand alone lesson to remind students of why it is such an important lesson to study.
An interesting lesson that looks at the different causes of war and conflict.
This is a useful lesson as it helps students to consider the different causes and assess how justifed most wars really are.
It looks at why individuals go to war, and contrasts this as to why countries go to war.
It also looks at a recent case study (Syria).
It asks the students to think about what war is really like, why does war still exist and what can we do to end war.
This fascinating lesson introduces students to the Jehovah’s Witness faith.
It looks at myths and facts about Jehovah’s Witnesses, teaching the students about their background, history, beliefs, traditions and way of life.
The students will take part in a treasure hunt to find the answer to questions, and compare Jehovah’s witnesses to Christianity.
A really fun and interesting lesson full of interesting resources.
I have also included teachers notes for anyone unfamiliar with this faith.

An excellent and fun lesson that gets students to think about what religion really is and why they believe.

It covers the issues of safety in the community (and at home) and gets students to investigate threats.
They need to come up with solutions/advice as to how to deal with threats.
They also need to write a poem/rap to demonstrate what they have learned.
This lesson explores the role of the United Nations and assesses whether or not it has fulfilled its aims.
There are a lot of resources here to use, they aim to explain to the pupils not only the role of the UN, but also its aims, its successes and its failures.
The pupils also have a past exam answer to mark, and attempt for themselves to assess what they have learned.
A fast paced, challenging, interesting and comprehensive lesson.
This lesson explores the Christian attitudes towards war and looks at the Just War Theory.
It allows pupils to explore the apparent contradiction in religion (‘Thou shall not kill’) with the Chrsitan support for wars.

If is an interactive assembly and asks the audience to participate (in a Q & A and a True or False Quiz).

A fun and interesting assembly.
Highly recommended for assembly or form time.
This is a useful lesson that introduces the wedding practices enjoyed by many Hindu families across the UK.
The lesson compares and contrasts Hindu weddings to other weddings they are familiar with.

They will then illustrate the wedding and explain what each picture represents.

This is designed for KS3 but would easily be adapted for KS2 or KS4.
A good fun lesson.
