Lessons for ALevel History OCR-Tudor Rebellions- can be used for other exam boards. Rebellion and Disorder under the Tudors The Causes of the Western Rebellion These resources will take 3- 4 hours of teaching time plus homework for students to complete Includes: documentary task from Starkey episode on Edward VI as context. Discussion tasks for students on the impact of Edward’s religious reform and Political context Venn diagram task to analyse causes Sources such as maps, rebel demands and a narrative of rebel actions to evidence causes. Key debates- was Western rebellion a response to political instability? Was Western rebellion a religious rising? Retrieval quizzes on Western rebellion as starters/ plenary. Assessment 30 mark interpretations on causes of Western rebellion. Model answer for above interpretations. Can be further complemented by pages from Fellows Access to History but not essential as there is plenty of factual info included. Very detailed as I’ve been improving this over three years, learning from mistakes as I’ve gone along!

Complete lesson- high challenge for KS3/ KS4 pupils on the Assassination of Franz Ferdinand- the spark which started WWI. Goes with my lessons on Long Term Causes of WWI but can be used as a stand alone activity. Including the video and questions this would probably take two single lessons (1 hour each). However there are alternative tasks so could be done without the video in a shorter time. There are also extension tasks such as the newspaper task. Very detailed resources as you can see. Interpretations of Henry VIII- was he a Tyrant or Renaissance Prince? This lesson is designed for KS3 but is quite challenging so could be used for GCSE. I also have a whole unit of work on the Tudor monarchs for £15 which includes 10 lessons – plenty of high challenge and retrieval. You may want to buy that rather than individual lessons :)
