OCR History lesson for ALevel course Russia 1894-1941 but can be adapted to any Alevel course with Lenin or simplified down for GCSE. -Lesson evaluates Lenin’s successes and failures. Ideally will be taught at the end of my unit on Lenin but includes all the relevant evidence via a card sort activity and info sheet to be used as a stand alone lesson.

Edexcel GCSE Superpower Relations and the Cold War This is my 4th lesson from Key Topic 3: The End of the Cold War but can be used as a stand alone lesson. In depth examination of who Reagan was, his ideas and beliefs and his policies including increased arms spending, rolling back Communism by funding guerrillas and the Strategic Defense Initiative (Star Wars) programme. Includes youtube video clips, source work and all the detail needed for students. Fully resourced nothing else needed. Examines how Reagan’s personality played a key role in developments from the Second Cold War to Gorbacev;s “New thinking” and need to reform the USSR (this is next lesson). Also includes a bumper retrieval practice for Key Topic 1 and 2 Highlighter Heads to help students recall key individuals from earlier in the Cold War (includes all key individuals from Roosevelt to Brezhnev, Dubcek and Husak). Also includes an 8 mark exam question, planning sheet, SEND planning sheet and model answer for a narrative account question on the Cold War. The Background to and Causes of the Tyrone Rebellion ALevel OCR- Tudor Rebellions. The 9 Years War Irish History This is one of the Depth studies- a likely exam question since the focus has largely been on the Pilgrimage of Grace and the Western Rebellion up til now. This work will take several one hour lessons - it recaps the prior Irish rebellions such as Desmond and Geraldine since the legacy of these was one of the reasons. Looks at Tyrone’s demands as well as the motivations of Hugh Roe O’Donnell and Hugh Maguire.

ALevel Russia OCR- can be used for other specs and GCSE. THis is an in depth lesson looking at why the Reds won the Civil War As with all my ALevel lessons, they take two hours plus homework. Fully resourced and detailed lesson- does not require textbooks. Includes a detailed essay plan for the 20 mark question assessing role of Trotsky in Red victory.

ALevel lesson (2 hours long) on the Revolt of the Northern Earls 1569 Designed for OCR Tudors Rebellion and Disorder course- looks at the rebellion according to the themes- causes, nature, threat, reasons for defeat and impact. Very detailed and comprehensive resources, all information included- no textbook needed. Also includes analysis and evaluation tasks and critical thinking.

This lesson was designed as an introduction to US Politics but can also be used as a Historical overview for studying the History of the USA in depth- can be used as a first lesson to build a big picture narrative of the USA and why it remains so divided today. Designed to last a full 2 hour lesson.

This is a collection of 21 activity ideas/ templates for ALevel teaching. Can also be used for GCSE too- examples are History but can be adapted to other subjects. The examples I have used can be used for Alevel Tudor Rebellions or Russia in Revolution as these are the topics I teach.

This lesson is a fun and unusual way of introducing the great powers in 1900 and getting pupils to think about International Relations. I took the idea from a version of this at my training school but this is 100% my own version of it with added ridiculousness. It is by far the best introduction to International Relations for KS3 I have ever done. I’ve also used it for Year 10 studying International Relations pre WWI and it worked very well. I have also included the lessons but these are mainly smart notebook files so they may not work for you if you do not have the software to open therefore I am only charging for the worksheets as these all did take a long time to make! This introductory lesson looks at the context of WWI and the new advances in weaponry as well as the key Battles of WWI. Very developed and detailed resources for students including video clips of documentaries about battles and key features such as the blood bank at Cambrai, the underground hospital at Arras etc. Examines the nature of Trench warfare and Attritional warfare as well as tactics such as Creeping Barrage to minimise injuries in the battles.

Any references to textbook can be ignored as all info from textbook is on the slides but if you have the textbooks, you can set it as independent work instead. Includes key terms, diagrams etc.

This introduction lesson is for teaching of OCR Thematic ALevel course Rebellion and Disorder under the Tudors. It contains everything you need to get started teaching this brilliant ALevel course.
