A lesson focusing on thematic links and analysis of Act 5, Scene 1 of Macbeth. A quote matching activity is included as well as an extract and annotations. Suitable for a mixed ability year 11 class or higher ability year 10 group. Can be used to supplement an existing SoW or as a revision activity.

GCSE/IGCSE KS4 'War Photographer' by Carol Ann Duffy
3 lessons (4 with the additional activities at the end of the presentation) that focus on exploring and analysing the poem ‘War Photographer’ by Carol Ann Duffy. There are a range of activities that are tailored for pair and individual work. Suitable for a mixed or higher ability year 10 class and can be used to supplement an existing scheme either on the GCSE ‘Power and Conflict’ Anthology or the IGCSE Literature Poem Anthology.

WW1 Comparing Attitudes to War
An introductory lesson that explores attitudes towards World War 1 and war propaganda. Suitable to use alongside the study of 'War Horse' and as a supplementary lesson for a history scheme on WW1. Useful for a high ability year 7 or mixed ability year 8 group.

A Christmas Carol Stave 5 Activities (AQA GCSE)

GCSE Poetry Exam Process Resource for 'Power and Conflict'
A tablemat resource (slide 1, best printed at A3 size) with a process for responding to exam questions on the 'Power and Conflict' poetry cluster at GCSE level with relevant prompts for developing paragraphs and inclusion of themes and ideas. Model answer templates and paragraphs also included.

Jabberwocky KS3 Poetry
A lesson focused on the use of portmanteau used in Lewis Carroll's 'Jabberwocky'. Prior knowledge of basic poetic form and structure is useful but not essential. An extract from Alice Through the Looking Glass is included to ground the learning. Lesson would suit high ability year 7 or mixed ability year 8 group.

KS3 Poetry Challenge SoW
An 8 lesson scheme of work designed to stretch and challenge high ability year 7 students or year 8, with a view to embedding and practising poetry analysis skills for GCSE, Prior knowledge of simile, metaphor and personification is required. Handouts with poems and keys are included, as is an exam template to be used for the final reading exam lesson.

Resources are included as well as explanatory notes within the powerpoint. Suitable for high ability year 7 or mixed ability year 8 group and would mesh with a scheme on war poetry or supplement the study of War Horse or other WW1 texts.

A series of resources for A Christmas Carol, Macbeth, An Inspector Calls and Power and Conflict Poetry. The An Inspector Calls scheme is a 30 lesson unit that covers the entire text with model answers and an exam process guide. The Christmas Carol resources cover activities for extracts from Staves 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 as well as an exam process tablemat. The Power and Conflict set has an exam process tablemat with answer guides and an additional analysis lesson on Ozymandias is included. The Macbeth resource includes model examples of writing with an exam process. Suitable as revision activities for KS4, while the An Inspector Calls scheme is appropriate for those just beginning to study the text and for extended essay practice.

KS3 English Language/Literacy writing a cover letter guide
A differentiated booklet that enables students to plan a cover letter for a prospective employer. Includes a modelled example, sentence starters and vocabulary and opportunities to self assess. Originally used for a lower ability year 9 group as part of a literacy unit, this would suit KS3 students as part of a letter writing scheme of work. Best printed in booklet format.
