Forms quizzes for AQA Biology - Biological molecules topic
Templates for you to duplicate and use through Forms or set through Teams.
Great for flipped learning from September - mostly self marking, just have to give feedback for longer answer questions.
Each one follows the general format of:
Upload your notes on Carbohydrates from your text books and the link below:
WEBLINK
Answer the multiple choice questions that follow the video,
Answer the longer question at the end,
Write a target based on the task.
You will have to change the Theme as it is our schools logo.
Have been really useful during lock down and could be good to share - I think I have included the right links to let you use these correctly. Let me know if there are any issues.
If you haven’t used Forms through Teams before you have to set the task, then go into the Teams version of that “quiz” and reset the File upload question so that it creates a SharePoint area to save it. If that makes no sense, maybe replace the File upload questions with something like “Have you spent 20 minutes + making notes?” and a Yes or No tick box question.

A Level Biology - Immunity - Past paper assessment - Very structured!
Three questions on the topic of particle theory (AQA - A Level Biology - Immunity) that are on a nicely laid out sheet for completion and sticking into books. Includes self assessment at the bottom to allow them to choose which topic requires attention based on their score, not just their feelings towards it.
The next slide has the answers in the wrong order so they actually have to read them not just copy them!
Included is a blank version you could use for other topics.
[image is just an example of others I have done]
B2 Organisation - Past paper assessment - Very structured!
Three questions on the topic of Organisation (AQA - Physics - B2) that are on a nicely laid out sheet for completion and sticking into books. Includes self assessment at the bottom to allow them to choose which topic requires attention based on their score, not just their feelings towards it.
The next slide has the answers in the wrong order so they actually have to read them not just copy them!
Included is a blank version you could use for other topics.

P2 - Particle theory - Past paper assessment - Very structured!
Three questions on the topic of particle theory (AQA - Physics - P3) that are on a nicely laid out sheet for completion and sticking into books. Includes self assessment at the bottom to allow them to choose which topic requires attention based on their score, not just their feelings towards it.
The next slide has the answers in the wrong order so they actually have to read them not just copy them!
Included is a blank version you could use for other topics.
Control variables - Homework with extension
Homework activity that could be a class activity.
Space for teacher comments / assessment
Two methods (with images) for the same hypothesis
Task:
Choose the best
Justify decision
Suggest further improvements
Extension: Create one of your own controlling as many variables as possible
Job research homework task
Show a list of jobs and get the students to choose two of them to research and explain which they would rather do when older.
The first slide is well structured and the second is less structured for more able.
The third has a list of Science related jobs but obviously you could give a list of any jobs.
Alternatively you could give different jobs to different students.
Newspaper review scaffold with examples
I have designed this for Science articles but could be used for any subject and for articles, websites, videos etc.
The second slide has four examples you could use to guide them or you could give them the article you want them to review.
58 Free Science colouring images
From Classroomdoodles.com and Crayola.com that have free colouring in sheets for loads of subjects.
Perfect for extra little interest and engagement for lessons.
I have downloaded the free resources and named them for easier access but have no ownership over them.
Enjoy!
Bundle
Save time, assess and engage
A large selection of resources:
Use to save time in planning and have as back ups.
Help with assessment.
Engage pupils with structured but interesting tasks that can be tailored to any lesson.
Mymost frequently used resources that are tried and tested
Massive range of activities for any lesson
PowerPoint full of 37 activities that include starters, mains and plenaries / mini plenaries that can be adapted for any lesson or situation. First slide gives general instructions.
Styles include:
Assessment based
Creative
Discussion
Independent
Settling
Positive
Many more
Each slide is laid out the same for consistency but is very personalisable.
If used regularly, the students get used to the style of an activity and can use their brains for the actual task, not for understanding what to do in it.
Activity for any Science video
Use this sheet to focus students through a video of any length and give a chance of assessment.
While watching the video students come up with 10 (or more if you add rows) questions and write the answers on the back.
After watching, they swap and answer each others quizzes, hand them back and get them marked. There is space for feedback as well.
I never let students watch videos without a purpose and as this is generic it can be kept behind the desk as a back up.
Differentiation - structure
A Power Point with 2 different ways of structuring differentiation within a lesson.
Slide 1: Blank version with space for main activity in the middle, support on the left and extension on the right.
Slide 2: Example
Slide 3: Blank version with two routes for the same objective
Slide 4: Example
Good to use to by slipping into a lessons Power Point to encourage yourself to differentiate.
Quotes from famous scientists (mostly)
To be used on a quote / inspirational quotes display or as a tutor / assembly resource.
Ten slides including black and white photo, brief biography (name, date, job) and quote for:
Richard Feynman
Carl Sagan
Neil DeGrasse Tyson

Can print on coloured paper or keep black and white.
Flipped HW - light dependent reactions of photosynthesis
First side:
10 short answer questions about the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis.
Space to write notes from the lessson.
Second side:
Links to YouTube video and website for further research into the next lesson (light independent reactions of photosynthesis) with space to make notes.
Useful for a regular and structured homework ensuring review and research is done from lesson to lesson.
My pupils really like the routine and know exactly what to do - it is manageable too but i tell them its a minimum.
KS3 - Differentiated Respirtatory System
Lesson on the respiratory system with two differentiated main tasks.
Word search starter with task to write down words they don’t understand.
Link to great animation website focused on the alveoli for discussion.
Task 1: Creating a resource about alveoli split into two options. One lower on Blooms, one requiring them to use a text book (you have to provide this…) or website.
Extension for task at bottom of slide.
True / False task with answers.
Task 2: Journey of an oxygen molecule. Two options again, one listing and labeling. The other more descriptive and creative.
Another extension at bottom of slide.
Plenary: 3.2.1. Task (list three… Name two… What one… etc.) focused on lesson.
A PPT slide to add to the end of a lesson
Add this to the back end of your PPT to remind you to check the classroom for tidiness as well as what you are expecting from the students with a sanction if insufficient.
A good routine can help with behaviour management. Especially if the students know there will be a consequence if they don’t do enough.
