I have been Head of RE, Pastoral Lead and Head of PSHE & Citizenship in my 19 year teaching career. I am currently Head of PSHE & Citizenship at a large secondary school 11-18. My shop includes: PSHE and Citizenship sessions, Assemblies, Tutor Time activities SMSC, Fundamental British Values and Religious Education. They are fully resourced RE or Citizenship lessons, worksheets or 15 minute assemblies/tutor time PSHE sessions suitable for 11-18 and some can also be used for younger audiences.

This is a 10-15 minute assembly for Remembrance Day suitable for all year groups from Year 5 - Year 13 (KS2, KS3, KS4, KS5, Ages 9-18) and can be used for an assembly, tutor time session, whole school, PSHE or Citizenship session. It can easily be lengthened by changing the discussion activities to written ones for it to last a whole lesson. There are two short youtube clips downloaded so they will never disappear. It is narrated but you can delete this by clicking on the icon and pressing delete. It covers what remembrance day is, why it is observed, why people wear poppies and why we have a two minute silence. It also shows the connection with a slide on Fundamental British Values, the UN Rights of a Child and a point of Reflection. There are links to the news and other extension activities looking at quotes which teachers can use or students can have as an extension activity on an online platform or for homework. This was originally a citizenship tutor time session to take place on 11th November 2021. 100% of the money you pay will go to the Royal British Legion.

This is a 10-15 minute tutor time resource about COP26. It could be used for an assembly or PSHE/Citizenship session. It explains what COP26 is, what climate change is and gives some more information about why it is called COP etc. There are many discussion tasks and these could be written tasks if you wanted to lengthen it to a whole lesson. There is a short video that is downloaded so it will never disappear and there are some links for further study or extension work. It includes a link to British Values, the UN Rights of a Child and includes reflection and extension slides containing interesting quotes and debates. This is most relevant for the end of October and November 2021 when COP26 is taking place in Glasgow. This was originally a Citizenship tutor time session for KS3, KS4 and KS5 and is suitable for all year groups (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). This gives great overview of some of the issues involved in climate change and COP26.

It is suitable for an assembly or for tutor time in KS3 - KS5 (ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and was originally a PSHE tutor time session for Year 11 but could be lengthened easily to fit a whole lesson. This covers the definitions of adoption and fostering, the process and law involved and the reasons why some people choose to adopt or foster children. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 students (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and fits into the PSHE, Citizenship curriculum and addresses the very important current issue of damaging the environment. This explains what plastic pollution is and how we can minimise waste as an individual and as a society. It gives practical suggestions on how to stop plastic pollution and allows students to have some interesting discussions about why it is hard to recycle all plastics that we buy. This is a 10-15 minute assembly that focuses on the issue of stereotyping. It was originally a Year 7 (Ages 11-12) tutor time PSHE session but it is suitable for an assembly for KS3-KS5 (Years 7-13, Ages 11-18). It has some discussion activities and some downloaded videos that will never disappear! It could easily be lengthened to a whole PSHE lesson if needed. It includes: What stereotyping, discrimination and prejudice mean with examples Why it is unacceptable behaviour inside and outside of school Whether we are too quick to judge people or not Stereotyping in the media with girls and boys toys Plenary including a quote from Martin Luther King and a reflection discussion This fits into the PSHE curriculum, Fundamental British Values, SMSC and reflection activities for tutor time. Students reacted very positively to this session.

This is a 10-20 minute assembly about World AIDS day on 1st December suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It focuses on the campaign of 2021 but can easily be adapted for other years. It is fully narrated and this can simply be changed by deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer it without narration. This PowerPoint includes a brief look at: What HIV & AIDs are Treatments and symptoms How someone could catch HIV History of HIV in the UK The need to eradicate HIV and how close we are to doing that How to protect ourselves Stigma & how you can’t catch it The importance and history of the Red Ribbon Why WAD is so important What can students do to raise awareness on WAD Links for further information and support 4 downloaded short videos that will never disappear (2 as part of the assembly and 2 as extensions). This session can easily be lengthened for a whole lesson if required and fits into the new Relationships and Health Education and Sexual Education, Keeping Children Safe in Education, PSHE and SMSC guidance and Citizenship education. 100% of the profits made from this PowerPoint will go straight to the Terrence Higgins Trust.

This is a 10-20 minute assembly about Brexit which is suitable for KS3 - KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It was originally a year 7 tutor time Citizenship session which was very successful. It includes two downloaded video clips that will never disappear, some discussion questions and a quiz as a plenary to check understanding. It includes: What Brexit means What the EU is What happened on Brexit Day What happened after Brexit and what needed to be decided as a country. It also includes a discussion plenary about how Brexit affects them. This fits into the Citizenship scheme of work, Fundamental British Values, SMSC and PSHE. It can easily be lengthened to last a whole lesson. It has no written activities but should last between 10-20 minutes depending on the length of discussion in your class.

This is a 10-15 minute assembly about foreign aid which is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It fits with the Fundamental British Values, SMSC, PSHE & Citizenship curriculums and was originally a PSHE tutor time session for Year 9. It contains: What foreign aid is Where the UK’s foreign aid goes Why we give aid How much the UK gives in foreign aid What sort of aid the UK gives A video about where foreign aid goes A video about the government’s decision to cut foreign aid in November 2021 The videos are downloaded so will never disappear and there is a thinking task at the end. This resource does not contain any written tasks, just discussions but can easily be adapted to last a whole lesson if required. Students responded very well to this presentation and lots of interesting and useful discussions were had as a result of this session.

This is a 20 minute session which can be used as an assembly, a PSHE or Citizenship tutor time session or could be easily shortened and it can easily last 60-90 minutes if required focusing on the conflict between Ukraine and Russia (originally created on 30th January 2022 but fully updated on 25th February 2022). It was originally being used for a Citizenship tutor time News session. This is suitable for KS3 - KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grade 6-13). There are no written activities but plenty of discussion tasks and downloaded video clips that will never disappear. This covers:  What is happening between Ukraine & Russia  Key terms - Soviet Union, Kremlin, NATO  How UK and US have reacted to the Russian troops on the border  What has happened now Ukraine has been invaded by Russia  A video that explains the conflict  Information about the history and sanctions  Debate about sending troops to Ukraine - practicing democracy in class vote  Discussion questions  Connection to Fundamental British Values  Connection to the UN Rights of a Child  Two reflection points  A brief look at what else is going on in the news this week  A few links for extension tasks or home study It also contains an updated PowerPoint which I am using for 7th March 2022 which has the same format as above and has the downloaded video clip from Newsround and a video about how to spot fake news. They are narrated sessions but this can easily be changed by deleting the icon on each slide. This session covers PSHE, Citizenship, Fundamental British Values, SMSC and Character Education and is suitable for a whole school focus.

This is a 60-90 minute lesson on Social Action by taking a detailed look at the Birmingham Pub Bombings in 1974 and the Birmingham Six who were unlawfully imprisoned. This was originally a Year 10 Citizenship lesson but is suitable for upper KS3 - KS5 (Ages 14-18, Years 9-13) and could be part of the Religious Education, PSHE or Citizenship curriculum. It is also relevant to the law, British Values and SMSC provision. This is an introductory lesson about Buddhism. It includes videos, written tasks, discussions and has extension tasks on the last slide. It was originally a 90 minute Year 8 lesson but could be used for a 60 minute or shorter lesson very easily. It could be used from KS2 - KS4 to give students an introductory look at Buddhism including the different types, karma, reincarnation, Eightfold Path, Four Noble Truths, Meditation, Symbols, Founder etc.

This lesson was originally a Yr 9 90 minute lesson but can be any KS3 or KS4 (Ages 11-16) lesson and shortened very easily. It goes through the six main religious beliefs about God and then an introduction to atheism and humanism. It includes a video clip, discussion and written activities, definitions, a quiz and a plenary. Students reacted very well to this lesson and it taught them that you don’t have to have religious beliefs to be a good person.

This is a 15 minute PPoint which has videos downloaded and discussion questions about how to stay safe during the coronavirus pandemic now the lockdown has eased. It does not have any written tasks but is most suitable for a tutor time session, an assembly or a short lesson in Sept-Oct 2021. There is a short quiz at the end to test their knowledge. This can be used from KS3-KS5 but is most suitable for KS3 & KS4 students (Years 7-11 Ages 11-16). This is linked to the new RSE and Health Curriculum for Secondary Schools but can easily be used for upper Primary years as well and for a whole school focus on health and safety.

This is a 10-15 minute narrated assembly or Citizenship tutor time session on the rail strikes happening in the UK. This was to inform the students about what was going on in the rail strikes, teach them the difference between public and private sector workers and give room for debate about industrial action. This could easily be lengthened to an hour’s lesson by holding a more formal debate. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) and can be used as an assembly or part of the Citizenship, PSHE, FBV, SMSC or tutor time programmes. This session contains: Explanation about the rail strikes What impact this had & how many staff were on strike The definitions and examples of public and private sector workers Explanation about why people go on strike Definition and explanation about ‘crossing a picket line’ Why this a current issue A downloaded short clipped video that will never disappear about the rail strikes A debate about industrial action A slide about other news that is going on including links to other news sites Extra links for students to look at in their own time (great for online provision) Quotes, dual coding, discussion tasks and logos throughout This session is narrated but this can easily be changed by deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer it not narrated. This is a comprehensive list of hundreds of relevant awareness days for a primary or secondary school. It maps the entire academic year and includes over 400 different dates and days. This is useful for pastoral leaders, PSHE leads, SLT or anyone that is putting together an assembly rota, bulletin, calendar or diary for the academic year starting September 2022. It includes cultural, religious, personal, health and social awareness days and has been triple checked for accuracy. I have pulled together all of the dates so you won’t find a more comprehensive diary anywhere. This will be a document that is updated as more dates are added next year or there are any changes. It brings together all of the useful special days for schools to focus on as part of their PSHE, Citizenship, Fundamental British Values, SMSC, Healthy Schools, Character Education, Finance Education, Religious Education and whole school ethos.
