This is part of scheme of learning for Key Stage 3 about the Cold War which looks at how Russia became communist in the first place, and puts the Cold War into its ideological context. It follows the lessons also included on the atomic bomb and capitalism and communism. It comprises of 2x1hours, and makes use of YouTube clips about the Bolshevik Revolution and communism, and there is also a resource for students to answer questions while they watch. I have found it to be a useful lesson for online teaching.

This resource focuses on explaining capitalism and communism through role play. Students are each given a character from either 1945 USSR or USA with information about their situation. They have to interview each other and record their results on a grid. They then use the grid to write an extended piece of evaluative writing - structure included to help students who require support. I have found this very useful to help students understand from the perspective of others in a fun way. The resource contains a short Power Point with instructions; colour-coded differentiated characters; and a grid to record findings.

This resource is targeted at supporting A level students master historiography. It contains one mat for each of the following relating to the reign of Henry VII: Consolidation of power and the establishment of a stable monarch (fully completed to model activity) Government and finance Foreign policy Society Economy Religion; humanism and the arts The first mat is completed with the historiography, plus evidence to support each argument as an example. The task is for students to research each historiography and record evidence (the historiographical argument is included on each mat). These completed mats should then be used for revision/essay writing/evaluating interpretations. They will support students’ learning at A level and weremade for AQA Unit 1C, however are useful for any post 16 study of the Tudors.

It is the last of a series of 5 power points covering the Presidency of Harry Truman, and gives students the opportunity to evaluate his presidency. The whole section on Truman covers about 20-25 hours of teaching and is available either in blocks of 5 hours or as a bundle.
