This resource relates to UK money - giving change. There are 50 task cards/activities. Content: 50 numbered Task cards Answer Key Recording Sheet Money Reference Sheet There are two task cards to a page. The task is in two parts: • First students add up the coins/money in the first column and write the price of the item. • The middle column shows the money used to pay for the item. • Students work out the change using whichever method they are comfortable with and then write the change given in the last column. The recording sheet can be used to write the date each card was completed. Great for early finishers and/or you want to review money with your students. This resource focuses on repeated patterns using Christmas patterns and shapes. Students can practise creating their own Christmas patterns. Teacher’s Notes describes the lesson which you can choose to make it last throughout the whole morning or afternoon or 1 hour session. Content: PowerPoint Presentation (10 Slides) - Include whole class activities, examples of repeated Christmas patterns, in the Presentation children are asked where they have seen repeated patterns of pictures - they might mention their wallpaper at home, car seat covers, on printed clothes (e.g. socks) etc. Differentiated Activity Sheets 1 and 2 - Complete the sequence of pictures Activity Sheet 1b – Pictures to cut out to complete Activity Sheets Blank Repeating Patterns Worksheets to create own repeating pattern Extension Patterns Worksheet Extension Christmas Shapes New worksheets for early finishers A one hour lesson for children to explore repeating patterns in the context of Christmas. The lesson should last 50 mins to 1 hour depending on how long your students take to design their patterns: Introduction to set the scene: 10-15mins; Main Lesson 15-20 mins; Consolidation of lesson (work at table): 20 mins; and Plenary/Closing session 5-10mins. Bring in some Christmas wrapping paper with repeated patterns of pictures and/or shapes or you can display Slide 1 showing examples of Christmas patterns. This lesson takes children through looking at simple picture patterns and working out the next picture in the sequence. This pack relates to euros and euro cents currency. Updated 17 May 2022 to include two versions of the original Presentation and worksheets showing the different ways euros/cents are written. Aimed at KS1/Kindergarten/Grade 1 and ESL/EFL students. The presentation can be used as follow-up to the first pack and builds upon the skills students have learnt previously. It still uses a step-by-step approach to teaching money but using higher value coins. This pack contains: <strong>A comprehensive PowerPoint Presentation (53 Slides) - divided into convenient sections. </strong> 1.Reviewing coins and their values, money exchange and using the 50c, €1 and €2 coins. 2. Using €1 and €2 euro coins. Using combination of coins to equal the value of the one euro and two euro coins. 3. Using euros and cents together - this is explained in the presentation with various whole class activities 4. Giving change from €1 and € 2 euro coins. The Presentation also includes whole class activities and different strategies students can use to work out money problems. Students also learn to change, e.g. 125 cents to €1.25/1,25€. **4 Flexible Lesson Plans - contains objectives, plenaries and main lesson. This product relates to UK sterling money pounds and pence. Its aim is to encourage students to use different skills to find solutions to a two-step problem. Aimed at: Keystage 1/Lower Keystage 2. Ideal for revising adding up coins and to finding how much more money to pay for an item. The worksheets start off with small denominations and then it increases to 50p and £1. There are 60 differentiated worksheets. Worksheet 1 - up to 10p (11 pages) Worksheet 2 - up to 20p (11 pages) Worksheet 3 - up to 30p (12 pages) Worksheet 4 - up to 50p (12 pages) Worksheet 5 - up to £1.00 (14 pages) <strong>Description: </strong> The worksheet is divided into 3 columns. The first column contains the price of the item. The second column shows the coins the customer uses to pay for the item but unfortunately it is not enough. The problem is in two parts: - Add up the total amount of the coins and write it in the blank box. Find out how much the customer is short by, i.e. how much more he/she has to pay and then fill in the box. The space above the box in the third column is for the student to show their workings out. It include includes the free resource number bonds to 10 which you can download for free - see below. Ideal if you want to do a quick recall or refresher on number bonds. There is ten more/ten less spinner. The wheel spins and you can stop it at any addition or minor sum. You choose a specific slide or play all four slides in the warm-up or use as main lesson. For shortcut to Slide Show - press f5 key on your keyboard. The equations will automatically be covered up once you press ‘esc’ key. You can go back and forth on the hyperlink arrows. Aimed at: Reception/Year 1 If you operate a carousel system in your class, you can place the different activities on the tables for children to practise number work/patterns. Content and Description Includes Teacher Notes • Counting in ones missing number sequence worksheet – Children complete sequence by writing the missing numbers in the heart. • Number bonds to 10 and 20 - x2 sets of worksheets – this is a cut and stick activity. Children cut out a broken heart on worksheet 2 to match and stick to a broken heart on worksheet 1. The hearts add up to 10 on one set of worksheets; and then add up to 20 on the second set of worksheets. • Counting using Tens Frame – Pictures are placed in different positions on the tens frame. Children count and write the number in the space provided. • Count and tick to match activity – Numicon – Children count the pictures in the squares and then tick the Numicon shape that matches the number of pictures. • Colour Sequence Worksheet – Children work out what comes next in the colour sequence and then complete the last two or three squares. Arrays are prerequisite for children to learn multiplication. It may be beneficial if children use unifix cubes with the worksheets and then write the multiplication sentence.
