This bundle meets all specification points needed to teach Topic 8 “Acids and Alkalis” from the Edexcel GCSE 9-1 Combined Science and Chemistry courses. It starts off gently, focusing on key facts and word equations, then builds to include balanced equations and ionic equations. The bundle includes nine full lesson PowerPoints and associated resources, plus my overview and equipment lists for all Year 10 and Year 11 Combined & Triple Science. Having delivered this to many classes, my suggested teaching order is: Acids, Alkalis and Indicators; pH and Acid Strength (Higher only), Reactions of Acids, Balanced Equations for Acid Reactions, Investigating Neutralisation, Preparing Copper Sulphate, Titrations, Solubility and Precipitates (two lessons). There are two versions of the lesson, one aimed at Higher ability groups and one more accessible to mixed / lower ability groups. Each has its own version of the worksheet. This PowerPoint (containing a worksheet) will allow you to teach the GCSE 9-1 specification Chemistry lesson on Electroplating (Triple Science Only). It also contains slides that provide essential background for the Core Practical involving Electrolysis of Copper Sulphate (CC10a). The Core Practical prep can be taught separately but I find it fits better alongside electroplating for Triple Science classes. **Be aware: this lesson works best if you have access to Edexcel GCSE 9-1 Chemistry textbooks. It’s not essential; other resources can be used and all information needed for students to complete the worksheets is found in the slides.
