The Great Maths Quest - Triangle Mystery PowerPoint

Extract In your desperate attempt to escape the pack of ravenous dogs, you find yourself in a deep ravine. The rock face on both sides is almost vertical and you are far too tired, anyway, to even contemplate climbing your way out. To get as far away from the dogs as possible, you decide to go forwards – walking through the shallow water because you believe that it will help to disguise your scent should those animals return to hunt you down. This maths adventure comes in four parts. It could be completed over several lessons or given as homework over several weeks. The idea is that the children have to solve a maths problem before the teacher will progress to the next slide. This could be completed over several lessons. It was created using PowerPoint 2013. THIS RESOURCE IS ALSO AVAILABLE IN PRINTED FORM. INCLUDES FREE DIVISION PRACTICE SHEETS WITH ANSWERS. THESE THREE WORKSHEETS HAVE THE ANSWERS AT THE BOTTOM ON A SLIP WHICH CAN BE EASILY REMOVED. A BLANK SHEET IS ALSO INCLUDED SO THAT YOU OR THE CHILDREN CAN CREATE YOUR OWN HANDWRITTEN WORKSHEETS.

Mental Maths Workout (Addition)

These sheets encourage the children to add numbers mentally from left to right - which is often the quickest way if you need to add the numbers quickly in your head. Perfect for KS2. Step 1 Add the tens digits together. Add one more if you can see that the ones add up to 10 or more. Step 2 Add the ones and write down just the last digit. Step 3 Put the two digits together to get the answer. Each sheet has a couple of questions in bold for which you just add the tens and ones digits up i.e. the ones digits do NOT produce an answer greater or equal to ten. ALSO INCLUDES ‘PLEASE CORRECT MY ADDITION’. THESE FOUR SHEETS GET THE CHILDREN TO BECOME THE TEACHER AND CORRECT A PIECE OF FINISHED WORK. THERE IS EVEN A SPACE FOR THEM TO LEAVE A COMMENT!
