I am a science teacher in Liverpool and have been head of department and senior leadership. I have put resources on here that I know will be beneficial to both individual teachers and middle managers. I'm aware of the time constraints and the resources are to reduce workload as well as inform.

This is lesson 3 of 7 lessons that can be used in part or whole to teach the biology topic of interdependence in animals and plants. This lesson explains how invertebrates can be captured and released. Modeling shows why the different techniques are used in those habitats. It touches on the ethics of handling captured animals too. The Lesson looks at what capturing animals tells us about the environment. Challenge looks at how some animals can be living indicators of pollution levels. These lessons are not board specific and can be used (dependent on ability) from KS3 and KS4. Lesson 3 - Abundance of Animals (sampling techniques) (THIS LESSON) THESE ARE ALSO AVAILABLE TO BUY Lesson 1 - Interdependence & Biodiversity Lesson 2 - Sampling Plants (Quadrats) Lesson 4 - Competition in Animals Lesson 5 - Competition & Adaptations in Plants Lesson 6 - Adaptations in Animals Lesson 7 - Predator Prey Population Graphs Each lesson has a interactive PowerPoint that has a starter and comprehensive explanations that will allow for questioning and discussion. There is a pupil worksheet (both in Publisher for editing, and PDF forms). The worksheet mirrors what has been taught in the lesson. There is a question (and a mark scheme) that can be used to consolidate the learning in the lesson or as homework. The lesson is labeled in the CLF (common lesson format) so pupils are aware of what that section is about.

Adaptations in Animals (Predators & Prey) CLF Lesson & Resources - Lesson 6 - KS4 BIOLOGY

This is lesson 6 of 7 lessons that can be used in part or whole to teach the biology topic of interdependence in animals and plants. This lesson explains how animals are adapted to survive. The scaffolding is to identify the adaptations, then how those adaptations help it survive a predator or catch a prey. The worksheet builds on the modeling done earlier. There is also a sheet that gives pupils scope for artistic flair by building their own predator or prey and how the adaptations help them. Challenge looks at how the adaptations in the wrong environment don’t help it. These lessons are not board specific and can be used (dependent on ability) from KS3 and KS4. Lesson 6 - Adaptations in Animals (THIS LESSON) THESE ARE ALSO AVAILABLE TO BUY Lesson 1 - Interdependence & Biodiversity Lesson 2 - Sampling Plants (Quadrats) Lesson 3 - Abundance of Animals (sampling techniques) Lesson 4 - Competition in Animals Lesson 5 - Competition & Adaptations in Plants Lesson 7 - Predator Prey Population Graphs Each lesson has a interactive PowerPoint that has a starter and comprehensive explanations that will allow for questioning and discussion. This resource contains 29 quick quizzes I have compiled for the AS AQA new Biology course. Each quiz has 10 questions of varying difficulty and then the answers. There is a linked excel sheet to record results and instructions as how to link the PowerPoint to the excel sheet (can be used without linking to the excel sheet as a stand alone resource too). The PowerPoint contains 29 quizzes spanning the whole AS course with questions and answers and an integrated results sheet to record the results from your class and a handy macro will rank them in order depending on their average through the quizzes. From the menu screen you can skip to any quiz and return back to the menu. Great for starters, plenaries and revision throughout the year.

AQA GCSE Science Required Practical Tracker Instructions

(1)
I have put together a complete system of resources that will allow staff to easily record and monitor the required practical aspect of the new GCSE science that is replacing the old ISA coursework. The resources include Whole Class Practical Tracker, Pupil Cover Sheets for Each of the Practicals and an 'On-The-Day' Practical sheets (again one for each practical, for the teacher to use in class during the practical to record the Apparatus and Technique (AT) skills that each pupil has to be competent with. All of the resources compliment each other, use the key coding for assessment to reduce workload and make things easy. This is just the instructions with some screen shots to see what and how it works. I have mirrored the A'Level AQA Practical Assessment for the AQA GCSE, it just seemed logical so that the systems are similar. The resources outline will be bundled together and can be purchased from my store page. Enjoy.

GCSE PHYSICS - Learning the SPEED Equations - FREE DEMO

Since the declaration that GCSE Science pupils wont be able to use equations sheets in future exams, I have been thinking of a system that will help them learn the equations and help staff in facilitating that learning. I have devised this. It is supposed to be used as a starter / plenary for pupils to go over and over and try to implant the equations over time. I will use it in every lesson, parrot fashion for success! This is not board specific as they all will need to learn them, and can be used for the current legacy GCSE students too as a revision resource. This demo only has the questions for 'Acceleration' questions, but you will get a good idea of what the paid product will be like. The GCSE PHYSICS Speed Equations full can be found in my store. It has questions on SI Units Questions, Speed/Distance/Time (v=d/t), Acceleration (a=v/t), Force?mass?Acceleration (F=ma), Kinetic Energy (KE = 1/2 m v ^2), Wavelength/Frequency (v=ƒ λ) and Momentum (p=mv) HIGHER TIER Only. There are another demos and full powerpoint on Energy Equations and Electricity Equations on my page. I have used the template for my ABCD cards for this endeavour, but you don't need those to utilise these PowerPoints. Enjoy.

These take some time to make, but I will group the other equations together as I have for the energy equations. I have used the template for my ABCD cards for this endeavour, but you don't need those to utilise these PowerPoints. Be patient, I'm going as fast as I can. Enjoy.

This AQA Additional Paper Analysis Tool will collate the 'mock' results and using the actual grade boundaries will give a grade for a) the whole paper, b) individual grades for the Biology, Chemistry and Physics aspects and c) will show the levels of progress the student has made. This has been invaluable as a monitoring and intervention tool to target individuals and classes that are falling behind. The screen shots to see how this looks when populated can be downloaded free from my page.

These are traffic light cards designed by myself as ever other ones I could find were not good enough. These were originally for science but can be used for any subject. I have attached the template PowerPoint which can be used with these. I have a set of 30 made and laminated that are a superb resource for starters, plenaries and in class assessment to show progress in the lesson. I have set it up fot 10 questions, but you can add more easily. The two sheets are supposed to be printed back to back so that the colours match on both sides.
