This lesson introduces learners to different types of strategic positions a business can adopt as demonstrated through Porter’s strategies and Bowman’s strategic clock. This builds on from strategic direction in the previous lesson (deciding which market to operate in, now the emphasis is how to position within the chosen market). We go through the three strategies of Porter before looking at the pros and cons of cost leadership, differentiation and focus. A short exam style question and answer before going onto the second part of the lesson. This double lesson introduces learners to inequalities around the world and in the UK. We start by looking at some unequal scenes and asking students what inequality is, the impact of it and why it is important to try and reduce inequalities. We consider the difference between income and wealth before looking at the causes of income and wealth inequality. We then look at how to measure inequality through illustration of the Lorenz curve, we then look at how the Gini coefficient can be derived from the Lorenz curve - a plotting a curve task to consolidate this important diagram. In the second part of the lesson we consider capitalism and its influence on inequalities, some interesting debates can be stimulated from this part of the specification. True and false questions, research task, video case studies, box plenary and kahoot to finish with.

This lesson introduces learners to Schaffer and Emerson’s (1964) study on the stages of attachment. We start by going over the procedure and results of the study which led to the formation of the four stages of attachment. This is consolidated with a video and some MCQs before we evaluate the stages of attachment. Followed by some short exam style questions for further consolidation of the topic. This three lesson bundle covers 4.1.1 Growing economies area of the specification. We start by looking at what an economy is and how it is measured. Then we move on to looking at examples of emerging economies such as the BRICs and MINTs.
In the second lesson we look at a case study on Lucozade attempting to challenge Coca-Cola in the USA, students then attempt a question on this, with guidance on how to achieve marks for knowledge, application, analysis and evaluation. Once they’ve answered, we look at an example model answer which students can aspire to when peer assessing and making improvements.

This lesson introduces learners to the functions and roles of money, the main emphasis is on the different stages in the life cycle and how money management changes throughout the years - an absolute foundation to personal finance. A group task where each group is given a life stage and they complete the financial needs and consequences for each stage - this could be made more engaging and differentiated by cutting out the squares and making it a kinaesthetic matching activity.

This lesson introduces learners to what a stakeholder is, we discuss examples of stakeholders, students consider the stakehodlers of their school, we then go on to look at the different interests of the stakeholders. Some consolidation activties such as matching stakeholders to definitions or a more challenging version included.
Students consider the most important and least important interest for each stakeholder before going on to complete a 6 mark analyse question on Apple. This double lesson introduces learners to critical path analysis, quite a tricky concept to understand at first for a lot of students - but not with this powerpoint. We start with an engaging starter to contextualise the topic, then we break down the elements of the critical path such as node, EST LFT, activities and durations so that we can see how it is built. Guidance is displayed step by step how to work out EST and LFT.
Students have opportunities to practice completing and calculating critical path analysis, including working out the EST and LFTs, float times and the critical path. A kahoot quiz with a link to consolidate the first lesson’s learning.
We then look at the advantages and disadvantages of CPA, followed by a concise case study on the usefulness of using CPA (questions can either be calculations or essay based so both are covered here).
