Grammar (Part 3 - Comparative and Superlative Adjectives); Ma Région - AQA; Theme 2 - 5.2

To achieve high grades in the new GCSE exam, students will have to become more adept at using and manipulating grammar. This grammar resource aims to help students improve their knowledge and application of grammar within the context of describing their region. Part 3 introduces comparative and superlative adjectives, their agreement with and position in relation to the noun they describe. In addition, learn and practise ‘the best’ and use adjectives with ‘more and more’ and ‘less and less’. There are exercises to stretch and challenge and many tasks are scaffolded for the less able. The font size is large so that 2 sheets can be copied to A4 to reduce printing costs. The worksheets can be easily edited to match other GCSE topics. 5 differentiated worksheets and a vocabulary grid will help your students understand and give opinions on reading different types of books using a range of adjectives and opinion phrases; 'je trouve ça ...', 'je trouve que c'est ..., 'je pense que c'est', ' à mon avis c'est ...'. Longer texts expect students to guess meaning and gap fill exercises require an understanding and application of grammatical knowledge. There are 2 ppts. to present the new vocabulary and grammar - 'ce, cet, cette and ces' (also 1 worksheet to practise this) and 1 'shared' ppt. which I upload to the school's student shared area so that students can reinforce what they have learned at their own pace. A crossword puzzle with clues in French serves as a kind of reading comprehension, plenary task. I have also included 2 worksheets and 1 short ppt. which goes with Studio 2 Vert, p. 13. This resource has been meticulously designed and is at least as nicely presented as any you might buy from a respectable publisher. Please don't be put off by the preview image which looks as though lines are missing from tables. This is not the case with the actual resource which looks professional in appearance when downloaded. The Perfect Tense of regular 'avoir' verbs in French (context: Module 2;Studio book 2)

These worksheets aim to help students improve their understanding and application of the Perfect Tense in French. The tasks deal with subject pronouns, the verb 'avoir', the formation of a regular 'ER', 'RE' and 'IR' past participle and the negative Perfect Tense. To demonstrate the Perfect Tense I have used the verbs and vocabulary from Module 2; Studio book 2. These worksheets have been meticulously designed and are at least as nicely presented as any resource you might buy from a respectable publisher. Please don't be put off by the preview image which at times looks distorted with text not fitting into boxes or lines missing from tables (due, I think, to the inclusion of tables/grids/text boxes); the actual resource looks professional in appearance when downloaded. The Imperfect Tense of AR, ER and IR Verbs (contrasted with Present and Preterite)

(0)
This is a great resource for your more able students. It clearly demonstrates how to form the Imperfect Tense of regular (and the 3 irregular) verbs in Spanish and it makes the meaning clear, too. In addition, the Present and Preterite Tenses are revisited and there are exercises which involve using these 2 tenses alongside the Imperfect Tense: 'I was doing ..... when .....' and 'I used to ..... but now I .....' There is an exercise on 'I only do, read, study' etc. using 'sólo' as well as an exercise on 'I no longer go, watch, read' etc. using 'ya no'. To differentiate effectively, I introduce the vocabulary which will be needed in the more difficult translation exercises prior to the task. There is 1 answer sheet so that students can mark their own work. The worksheets come in a 'tú' and an 'vd.' version. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I made this worksheet for a very able student to complement p. 24 of the Oxford AQA GCSE Spanish Higher coursebook. I would suggest your students first read 'La evolución de las páginas de citas’ on p. 24 before tackling the quite difficult translation task. There are 2 exercises to practise ‘encuentro + adjective + infinitive’ and ‘tener la oportunidad de + infinitive’ which appear in the text on p. 24.
